The Special Olympics Bocce Team of The Rose – St. Coletta Catholic Training Center sponsored by Fullchamp won the competition!

On October 7, 2022, the members participated in the ” Taichung City Special Olympics Inclusive Education Activity Bocce competition” hosted by the Taichung Sports Federation for Individuals with Disabilities – won the 2nd and 3rd place in the “Men’s Team Quadruple”.

This competition attracted more than 1,000 people from 50 teams across the country to sign up for the competition. It is really admirable to stand out in the fierce competition.  We hoped that each game can broaden the members’ vision, increase the opportunities for social participation and interaction with golfers, and enhance their adaptability to the society.

On 7 May 2022, Fullchamp sponsored the Rose to set up a “Special Olympics Bocce Team”.

The Rose – St. Coletta Catholic Training Center for Special Needs is an organization dedicated to supporting people with physical and mental disabilities and vulnerable families. Sponsorships include: the coaching fees and travel expenses, team uniforms and team caps for the bocce team, and borrowing a suitable court from the primary school that nearby us. We hope that through the bocce sport, the slow flying angels can more confidently pursue their own sense of honor.

Bocce is a relaxed but strategic game. Bocce is also a competitive sport that requires physical, intellectual, emotional, and group adaptation. Players need to have skills such as strategy, accuracy and stability. For physically disabled or cerebral palsy, they gain many emotional and psychological benefits, including self- confidence, social competence, building greater athletic skills and higher self- higher self-confidence. Since 2022, the Rose – St. Coletta Catholic Training Center has been promoting the bocce sport, and the slow-flying angels with limited movement and slow reaction were arranged to participate in the Special Olympics Bocce Sport; so far, 10 members have continued to participate both activities.
